Our Partners in Advocacy & Education

We’re incredibly grateful here at The YCOD for the selfless dedication of the members of the organ donation community. Whether through increasing awareness, providing educational resources, or advocating for support for donors and recipients, each of these teams holds a special place in the community.

WaitList Zero

Founded by living kidney donors, WaitList Zero is devoted to representing donors and ending the waiting list by increasing living donation. WaitList Zero envisions a nation where no one dies because of a shortage of available kidney transplants; a world of transplant support where it is easy for patients to ask for a kidney and easy for donors to give; where donors are honored as public servants and never expect to be worse off for having saved the life of another.

ONE8FIFTY

A single donor can provide up to eight people with lifesaving organs and greatly impact at least 50 others through tissue donation – so there’s a very good reason why Thomas Jasinski Jr. named his nonprofit organization ONE8FIFTY: Partners in Transplant. The YCOD and ONE8FIFTY work to increase the rate of organ donation through a free texting registration system. Anyone can join by texting “register” to 57838.

The Chris Klug Foundation

Only 18 months after his transplant, Chris Klug took home a bronze medal in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He founded the Foundation the following year to help save lives and promote a healthy, active lifestyle post-transplant. Founded in October 2003, the Chris Klug Foundation is dedicated to promoting lifesaving organ and tissue donation and improving the quality of life for those touched by organ donation.

The Hindu Temple Society of North America

The Red Cross

The American Red Cross, Western New York Region, spanning 27 counties, comprises three chapters – Western NY (Buffalo), Greater Rochester, and the Southern Tier. The Western New York Region is a significant part of the storied history of the American Red Cross as founder Clara Barton established the very first Red Cross Chapter in Dansville, NY in 1881.

The New York State Council of Churches

New York State Council of Churches is comprised of eight partner Denominations. Each sends representation to the Executive Committee and provides financial support. Other denominations which are members of the National Council of Churches may also have representation to the Council.
